Leadership Adventure Camp Program Director

Energetic and enthusiastic person to plan appropriate fun and enriching summer camp activities for 7th and 8th grade age campers. Includes supervision of counselors, interns, and campers; oversee daily camp activities. Activities planned by Program Director should reflect the camp’s core values. This camp strives to create a welcoming environment and celebrate everyone’s unique talents. Responsibilities include building leadership skills among the older age campers.

This non-profit camp is looking for someone who is highly organized and has excellent communication skills.   If you have been a camp counselor, team leader or teacher, and can demonstrate your management and leadership skills,  please consider applying.

Culinary Assistant

Our Community Cares Camp is looking for a Culinary Assistant for a part-time, seasonal position at about 25+ hours per week at the kitchen located at Camels Hump Middle School. OCCC is a four day a week, four-week, half-day camp, reaching children from 5 – 14 years. This person must have a passion for preparing fresh, nutritious meals for 200+ children.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in making kid-friendly meals from scratch with minimal use of prepared or processed food.
Work closely with other kitchen staff and interns.
Participates in all aspects of kitchen operations.
Engage with campers and encourage healthy choices and behaviors.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: (Required)
Commercial kitchen experience.
Ability to receive instruction.
Follow directions with accuracy
Effective communication with Head Chef and other kitchen staff to maximize efficiency.

Compensation commensurate with experience and other qualifications.

Cooking Coach

Our Community Cares Camp is looking for a Cooking Coach for a part-time, seasonal position at about 20 hours per week at the kitchen located at Camels Hump Middle School. OCCC is a four day a week, four-week, half-day camp, reaching children from 5 – 14 years. This person must have a passion for creating and preparing cost-effective, fresh, nutritious meals and snacks with an emphasis on variety.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create a summer cooking program for Our Community Cares Camp.
Teach/create kid-friendly meals and snacks from as close to scratch with minimal use of prepared or processed food.
Participates in all aspects of kitchen operations. Engage with campers and encourage healthy choices.
Submit invoices weekly to the Executive Director

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: (Required)
High integrity leadership
Kitchen/Food experience and training
Strong communication skills.
Ability to teach and engage campers in meal and snack preparation.
Knowledge of child nutrition in order to plan out and prepare delicious and healthy meals and snacks.
Time management skills. Ability to have the activity planned on a schedule that fits around the camp schedule.

Actual Job Responsibilities:
1. Plan menus/activities, purchase food, and supplies for all four weeks of camp.
2. Operate within a budget.
3. Report to and work closely with the Executive Director, seeking their involvement in the success of the cooking program for the summer.

Interns wanted – Age 14 and up

Do you want to have a really great summer experience? Do you want to help your community?  Do you want to learn what it means to have a job and gain experience so you’ll be ready for your first “real” job?  Then an OCCC internship might be for you.  If you are at least 14 years old and can commit 2-4 weeks during July then fill out the application below and send it in by April 15.   You can be a junior counselor or a culinary intern.  OCCC hosts around 20 interns every summer and some come back for multiple summers or become paid employees once they have sufficient experience.
