Everyone Wins!

OCCC is successful because our community really does care and everyone wants a good outcome for our children. Children who are well nourished in body and spirit will be more successful in school and in life.  OCCC helps to give children the tools they need to make good choices as they grow and learn.  OCCC gives critical job training to teens that will help them find employment as they grow.

Thank You Richmond Residents!

Those who attended Town Meeting in March 2020 voted to support one-year bridge funding while the camp says farewell to our retiring leadership team and hello to a new era where the organization hires part-time year round staff to replace them. It is so important that as we look towards the future of our organization we take a moment to thank Marie Thomas and Linda Parent for their many years of dedicated leadership and guidance in building OCCC into what it is today. After over a decade of volunteer leadership to children in this community by way of Our Community Cares Camps programming they have decided to transition out of their roles.

The continuation of the programs of OCCC without Marie and Linda at the helm is possible because of increased investment and involvement from many who care deeply about our mission. The strong support from Richmond, totaling a one-time addition of $20,000 to the town budget, goes a long way in helping OCCC Board and staff ensure the long term success of the camp. We are working diligently to transition the organization so that we will be financially sustainable. We look forward to reporting back at next year’s Town Meeting to update this community on our programming and the state of the work. We know that this is a massive contribution from the town and feel honored to be trusted to turn these funds into programs that allow those most in need to have fully bellies, and an enriching summer experience for years to come.
